Mental note to self, check this out: Asmahan, The Golden Voice - Songs
Playing with the ACID software is really fun, i made music in notime, and i am not very musical. problem is, i don't really know what to use it for, and besides, all the nice samples i used (borrowed from the net) are illegal to publish. sigh.
So, my cousin Petri went ahead and got married. Congratulations!
Ouch, i admit, i enjoy doing this. Another entry in the fotoblog saga completed.
Sleet is a good word to describe what it looks and ffels like outside my window right now. Yuck! And, yes, yesterday on the news they mentioned the capture of Saddam.
The rain came back. Welcome to wet Helsinki.
I like the idea of GPRS and MMS in my mobile. Only so far it doesn't work.
Time is too quick for a diary to really work. I am not even catching up on myself these days!
Just read about the up and coming push-to-talk phones coming out next year, powered by Sapio (and maybe others?). Using GPRS they transform phones to walkie-talkies, making calling much cheaper. And it is supposed to work on my mobile too! Can't wait to try it. If it works...
Sooo much work to do. And I don't like the nagging me. Shape up, or ship out!
A quick visit to Göteborg, it was lovely. Thank you! (you know who I mean).
No, it is not titbits, it is tidbits, as in small things washed up on the shore after a storm. Maybe I should rename?
so, fotoblogging is fun (and addictive), i really like it. New hobby/artform. And quick replies/comments, unlike textblogging. At least that is how its been for me so far. Mind you, i am not complaining, this is such an ego thing anyway.
Yes, fotoblog duly started .
Ha! Today I bought a useful toy, a scanner. I wanted one for the longest time, ever since the switch to a new motherboard no longer supported my SCSI-card. Ond now i am wandering down memory lane, scanning all those negatives. I tell you, it is amazing what memories they bring back. Hmmm, a photoblog, perhaps?
They are bulldozing and raking the snow away outside our window. At 01.25! Unbeliavable!
Hmmm, really addictive these quizzes. better stop now. Try some yourself, and tell me what you found out, eh?

hmmm. I don't agree exactly, but partly, Your soul is bound to the Solitary Rose : The Alone. "When I wake up alone, the shades are still drawn on the cold window pane so they cast their lines on my bed and lines on my face." The Solitary Rose is associated with loneliness, melancholy, and patience. It is governed by the goddess Merope and its sign is The Sword, or Unrequited Love. As a Solitary Rose, you may be summed up as a hopeless romantic. You desire love and have so much love to give, but thing just never seem to work out the way you want them to. In life, you can be very optomistic, even when things are gray and nothing works out to your expectations. What Rose Is Your Soul Bound To? brought to you by Quizilla
Finally i am there to take command (talk about nerdy joke)
A fresh week-end is over, we celebrated Leo's birthday whole week-end, it was really nice. Thanks all you who came! Now i should be in bed preparing for another labor-intense week.. and yet here i am, with you guys. Beer, anyone?
Now you see it, now you don't. Damn, you gotta be quick if you want to catch those snowflakes on webcam
Need a clue ?
Argh. I still can't get my xp machine to talk to my Win2k server. And i only want to share files... Why does it have to be so difficult?
Friday morning, the sun is back. Thank someone for that.
The size of cucumbers and what EU is not about Fun things for a EU-worker like me...
A week in Cyprus and things look a little different again. Hard work, but now we are done. What we did? Mostly talked about the history af Adult Education in Europe... Sounds boring? It wasn't.
Nice to see the community growing, and getting some unexpected replies to an article I wrote. New sidebar added, unless i get objections it will remain and hopefully grow...
Single malts are nice. What's your favourite?
Headaches are not nice.
Göteborg is a nice place. Yesterday we had dinner at Göta's, and the food was excellent. Later on I met Erica and Anders, Ella and My. We were couchpotatoing and enjoying it, we kept at it until i fell asleep in the sofa. I was quite tired the day after... Quite a good visit, i got to see many friends, even though the trip was so short and the seminar programme intense. I did some intense lecturing this time, on the use of First Class and the approaches to flexible learning. Seeing the staff at NFA for a friday morning brunch was also great fun, though sad when we all know that the Academy will close next year. I will miss it, the people there are the meetings that has taken place there over the years.
Heh, writing a story about blogging for Ny Tid . I am late again, deadline was two days ago... Hope they will still accept my piece. Yesterday was fun, I found a lot of stuff while simply surfing, some of which I added here.

Scary.
ahahaa, so you wanna be a superhero ?

Ahhahhahahahahaaahaha ha
Ah yes, that's more like it... Shoot, NRA...
Ah, ok, maybe i will find some comrades here
Nice thing this, though I envy those with more to say. Well, we can't all be like that. A strike for the middle man? Yes, maybe. I find it difficult to put my thoughts into written form in this medium. Takes some getting used to I suppose. It's a pity I can't figure out how to add images here easily. Damn, i begin to wonder if i should opt for movable type as a blog tool instead?
They say magnetic sun storms wreaked havoc on telecommunications in Sweden last week. Viruses has blocked much of the e-mail traffic and access to one on the largest providers. People have time to do other things, but seem paralysed when the web isn't working. Talk about vulnerable. And i thought we had these problems only in Finland...
On the subject of writers, another chat friend who introduced me to Murakami gave me this interesting link .
Chatting with a new friend on yahoo we stumbled onto the question of whiskey. Which ones are good, which one the favourite? I said macallan at the moment, it used to be laphroigh. It turned out to be a difficult subject, there are so many good whiskeys. I have a dream of going on a whiskey tour to Scotland and sample some of them. Maybe I will.
Came home from Stockholm last night with the ferry MS Amorella from Stockholm to Turku. As it was Saturday it was obviously crammed with young drunk people. Actually they didn't in the end bother us at all, the boat was so big they were invisible. The problem came at night. I woke up by the rocking of the boat. It went up and down. Up and down. When i fell asleep the weather was calm, when i awoke it was less so. I got scared and started thinking about Estonia, we had seen the memorial only the day before, next to the Wasa museum. The cabin was above car deck, and above water level, but in a maze of corridors with a tricky way to the emergency exits. The kids were sleeping. Should I awake them and get up? Should i get dressed and check the weather situation? No, if i left the cabin it might be worse, i immediately imagined the kids alone in there, trapped. I felt almost paralysed. I did not sleep much last night. The boat arrived on time in pouring rain the next morning.
Ouch, it is raining cats and dogs today. And it's really cold too. Hate that.
Winter came, and my connections were down, due to a change of computers. XP is quite different from win2k, i must say. I wanted to write about the first real snowfall last week, and all the fun we had, but, well, it comes here and now instead. Today we are back to sloshy October.
Darn, i realise i forgot to mention Magnus Mills, a long lasting favourite, he just has it . Though thin, his books are very full of stimuli. Thanks Scotland for the favor.
Phew, this speed is really almost too much. Everyone everywhere, all the time, all at once. I need some time for myself, some time to think. Some time to read a good book, some time to sip my bloody tea, please. Sounds like rambling? Well, welcome to blogging... This is where I get to spill the beans, right? Right.
I really like the story made in Irtiottoja . It is realistic, archetypical, quotidian and yet entertaining/thought-provoking. Thank you Nelonen.
Ha, Tuesdays are TV-series days, I still like Six Feet Under . The new Sopranos episodes are finally running here after a year long rerun of the first season shows, but now i am so much into the undertaker world that Sopranos feels old and too slick. Talk about sensitive to trends...
Oh, yes, open source television, just what i like. The Boy - Joey tale was very likeable. See for yourself at ZeD - Open Source Television
Yes, i plain forgot to mention this really nice radio sation i like in Helsinki, also streaming over the net, Radio Helsinki . Give it a try!
I could not resist, I simply had to download Firebird. Nice name too. Will it work? Well, let's see...
Oh yes, I used to enjoy Cioran a lot, dark though he was. Agree ?
I also really like Timothy Mo, I think I have read all his books. MORE . The redundancy of courage was the first novel i read, it still stands out as his best work in my opinion.
Good books to read? Try Murakami, some of his works are really good! I for one greatly appreciated his Hard-boiled Wonderland and The End of the World
Yes! Chapter 10 of The Little Ninjai is released. This I really like...
All these web browsers, it's hard to know which to keep, which to wait for, and which to use. From laziness i tend to stick to IE, though i like the interface of Mozilla much more. Strange, huh?
Oh, saw a really bad movie right now, Charlies Angels. I don't mind mainstream films, but this was below the belt, it was so contrived, I can't see why they bothered to do it. A very uninspiring piece of "entertainment". Blah!
Blogging is fun, but it takes some time to find the right tone, and to add the bits and pieces that actually might be interesting. It's easy to feel a bit intimidated, as there are so many ambitious blogs out there. That is, however, beside the point. Bloggin by definition should be an open ended affair, leaving the floor wide open for all participants. But, like so much else on the web, what could be labeled fake professionalism take over and rule by force and speed alone. Not that you have to buy any of it, but it is hard to ignore. Sort of like all this spam mail now clogging the once wonderful tool called e-mail. Nah, i am not one to nag about the good ole times, things are changing, is all. But i don't have to accept that. I can still make my small little blog here in this corner of the web. Nice to have you here.
Yes! I finally completed the last work on the upcoming filmmagazine, our third issue this year. It was really tough, but now we are done, and we made another 40-page issue, i am proud! The Ballistic Brothers in my ears, all are asleep in a very rainy Helsinki. Autumn is here indeed, and time is esacping me like a thief, there are sooo many things to do... I am beginning to like bloggin for the time being, it is nice to throw some comments in here whenever the urge overcomes me. So, time for some sleep. Goodnight!
Oh no, another midnight deadline passed me by, i have to stop this, though i admit it is fun. Dear diary, sleep tight...
Hmmm, some sick shit going on here. Only i half suspect this is another promotional trick, though you can never know for sure, which is the idea, right?
Ok, this is the real stuff, like the diaries of the war in former Yugoslavia. Well done, Riverbend. I suddenly saw blogs in quite another light after reading through your daily dispatches from Baghdad. And i am sure to come back for more...
Well, William is out of here (i didn't even know he was in until now). Typical. Well...
Past midnight, the kids are sound asleep. Not even up for a game tonight, just sortof browsing, not really tired. Typical, I wake up only after midnight, and there's nothing to do. Well, that's what you have yahoo messenger for. I like the design better than MSN messenger, only problem is almost allt the chatfriends i have use MSN, and there isn't even an easy way to have yahoo search my address books for possible yahooers, or at least i have not been able to find that setting. (And no, i don't want to chat with just anyone, not that desperate, i prefer my friends). Luckily there's Helga from Brasil to keep me company and beat me in pool. Yes, the games actually work and qre quite fun to discover. Again a new thing coming through the wires. At least to our apartment in Lauttasaari. Saw a good movie tonight on FST digital (finally some use of the expensive rented box). Pizza King from Denmark (1999) See http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0170407/ . It is true that there ar
who thinks this shit is cool? Deep sigh . Talk about corporate bullshit...
The police in Sweden has made another arrest . This time the suspected murderer of Anna Lindh, the former Swedish foreign minister is now in custody. I hope this is the guy! Or else this will just go on and on...
This is the page I am working on almost every day to improve and change. It did not always look like this ...
This is something i really got hooked on. Excellent work, i'd say. I only wish the next instalment would be out soon, i am getting impatient... See for yourself at Ninjai: The Little Ninja
Hey, this is nice music, very quite and slow, good food for thoughts. Thanks kaspar
Another blogger, with a very hard page to read, but links to my interest for the moment, the movie Fear X . Actually he's been editing it . Nice background info here.
This is the kind of issues i work with. It is sometimes noce to notice how global the work is. Though the text might seem tedious, the content is good. The Daily Star Web Edition Vol. 4 Num 105
Just added something about me, though maybe too serious... . Besides, i am not sure it works...
Oh, and for something on me, see www.kaapeli.fi/ ~larjanko
The sun is shining outside my window. A cold wind is pushing trees and people around, making us all bend in determination. I am home, down with the flu. My head is spinning, while nice italian music is soothing my tired mind. I should set up the community for our junior football club, but i rather just lie down and read donald duck. Sigh.
