Tidbits from Lauttasaari

We are moving to our new flat within one week, and it is very exciting! Lots still to do though, and time is running short...I keep my thumbs crossed.

I am trying to get my home computer (now running Suse Linux 9.1 personal) to understand some windows programs i used to have in my computer (they ran fine on win 2K until the OS crashed and died for no appearent reason, and nothing i do makes it come alive again). I found VMWare, but found the price tag well beyond my scope. Then i found SourceForge.net: Bochs , which is a freeware version, doing the same thing, but i do not know if it is any good. Anyone have any hints?

Got two words for you. Community. When it is there, even virtually, it is really nice. It gives flavor to the discussion, forces you to hone your arguments, improve your reasoning, and follow up on your ideas. I like finding such a place at Studorg.

It's true, i am less depressed now than ten years ago, much due to the fact that there is no time for it. The kids and making food, and working, and cleaning, and sometimes reading a little is just so much.

October came, with wet darkness. The hazedness of tired mornings. Staring at the screen even after work. The prospect of christmas impossibly far away. Through it all. Through and through.

Help, i cant get Linux to recognize my sound card! I wanna use SKYPE but no, it does not work. Also i would like setting up the web cam again, but where to find set-up instructions?

Cold weather came to Finland, rain and sun in a twirl. Soon we wont be out playing football with our team any more...

OK, trying to get used to Linux since my Windows 2000 crashed and died. Not too easy, i hope i am getting there, using SUSE 9.1 and KDE 3.21. It sure takes some getting used to.

I must say i liked Kill Bill vol 2. It was a pleasure to watch, hard to find any shortcomings really. Tarantino has style, I give him that.

Pattern regocnition is almost too sharp/smart for its own good, turning looks, clothes and witty descriptions into the main part of the storytelling, threathening to drown the plot. But in an enjoyable way.

Darkness descends. Shikeru Otori got his revenge, but it did not make things any easier for Takeo. Now to find book two in the saga.
